Andrea and Matthias co-founded Healing Spirits Herb Farm and Education Center in the Finger Lakes Region of New York, where they have lived and worked for over 25 years.
When first married, Andrea and Matthias taught subsistence farming and nutritional issues as Peace Corps Volunteers in the Phillipines.
They live simply, seeking a life of balance and harmony with all creation. They have created a healthy alternative lifestyle.

| On the farm is the customary big old farm house, which has housed many large families over the years. It has been added to and remodled, more than once or twice. It is a warm and friendly house where the Reisens raised their five children and nursed the children's great-grandmother in her last years.
Everyone who visits Healing Spirits feels at home and at peace, whether staying for a hour, or a day, or for several days. The Reisens have made the farm into a respite from a hectic world.

Andrea L Reisen is a woman of many talents. Her values are simple and 'old-fashioned'. She sews Matthias' most colorful shirts. She is a firm believer of the old adage, "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without!" Nothing is ever wasted. No one ever goes home hungry.
Andrea is a student of numerous healing modalities, including: Cranio-Sacral, Zero Balancing, Reiki, and Therapeutic Touch. She has studied with Brooke Medicine Eagle and is a graduate of Rosemary Gladstar's apprenticeship program. She has also studied nature awareness and philosophy at Tom Brown's Tracker School.

| But most of all, Andrea enjoys the growing, harvesting, and drying of medicinal herbs. She enjoys sharing her love of herbs and her knowledge of their healing powers, with everyone who visits Healing Spirits. Her love of nature is infectious.
Andrea is very knowledgeable about using herbs to make salves, tinctures, beverage tea blends, and face creams.

| Matthias E Reisen is a 'gentle giant' whose large and skillful hands carefully tend all the herbs, flowers, and vegetables at Healing Spirits. His strong spiritual energy enhances Healing Spirits' ethically wildcrafted and certified organically grown herbs.
Matthias has graduated from Rosemary Gladstar's herbal apprenticeship program and has assisted her with the various programs. He has a BS degree in agronomy and has worked as an agricultural agent. He has also studied nature awareness and philosophy at Tom Brown's Tracker School.

Some people have 'green thumbs'. Matthias has 'green hands'. He is truly a plant lover. His efforts are visible all over the farm.
The same hands that tend the herbs and vegetables, are equally adept at preparing them. All the herbs, flowers, and vegetables, that have found their way to Healing Spirits, think they've died and gone to heaven.

Very few couples ever have the opportunity to work together as closely as Andrea and Matthias. Even fewer could possibly manage as comfortably. They love their work and they are blessed with pleasant dispositions and good spirits.
Andrea and Matthias have been an inspiration to many people who have sought out their guidance and experienced their gentle touches.
Herbs are their stock in trade. Healing is their life's work.
