Internal Uses (Tea and Ingestion):
Respiratory Support: Traditionally used as an expectorant to help with coughs and colds, and may enhance overall respiratory function.
Digestive Health: Works to settle the stomach, alleviate bloating, gas, and is used to treat dyspepsia (upset stomach).
Anti-inflammatory and Pain Relief: Known for its anti-inflammatory properties, a tea of the leaf has historically been used to help relieve pain associated with arthritis and rheumatism.
Nervous System: Helps to reduce anxiety.
Women's Health: Traditionally used to support menstrual health and alleviate cramps.
General Wellness: Rich in antioxidants, which combat oxidative stress in the body.
Historical Tonic: Once used as a tonic to ward off the bubonic plague in medieval Europe. Not sure this worked very well!!!
External/Topical Uses:
Chest Congestion: Leaves have been prepared as a poultice for a congested chest.
Skin Health: Can promote healthy skin by reducing irritation and inflammation.
DO NOT USE IF PREGNANT OR BREAST FEEDING. Angelica may not be safe when taken by mouth during pregnancy. It is suggested that angelica can cause uterine contractions, and this could threaten the pregnancy.
