“In short, pine pollen is a potent source of natural androgens, including testosterone androgen mimics, it is a great nutritional source, especially of amino acids, vitamins and minerals, and it is an excellent general tonic for the human body, useful in preventing or alleviating a number of conditions common to aging” – Stephen Harrod Buhner

A natural testosterone booster.

Pine Pollen: Nature's Adaptogen and Nutritional Powerhouse

Love how Pine Pollen is an overall tonic for the body, but it really shines as an androgen, raising testosterone in men, and for women may help balance the testosterone/estrogen ratio in women especially when mixed with other herbs.  -From Andrea

Pine Pollen: Nature's Adaptogen and Nutritional Powerhouse

The Harvest:

Timing is Critical: We have only about a week-long window to harvest the yellow, plump male pine flowers bursting with pollen, typically in the spring (when you often see yellow pollen dusting cars and trucks).

Weather Dependent: A heavy wind or rain can easily ruin the harvest for the year, making the process tricky.

A Cherished "Chore": We check the pine trees daily in the spring—first thing in the morning and last thing in the evening—to monitor the pollen's progress. This routine is a favorite time of year, allowing us to connect with nature, check on bird's nests, and observe other plants.

Pollen has a history of use in medicinal substances spanning thousands of years, with mentions in remedies dating back 2,000 years. It has been especially popular in Chinese Medicine, as well as in North America and Europe. In recent decades, pine pollen has garnered attention due to its exceptional stores of micronutrients, including amino acids, vitamins, enzymes, and flavonoids.

 Harvesting Practice: Eastern White Pine

We specifically harvest our pine pollen from Eastern White Pine trees native to North America. We have cultivated many of these trees on our farm over the last 45 years. Harvesting from trees we planted ourselves creates a special relationship. We have a particular fondness for one tree that we replanted decades ago—a "guardian tree" that has thrived and brought joy, offering a place for contemplation.
