  • 1 part Licorice Root

  • 1 part Ginger Root

  • 1 part Cinnamon Bark

  • 1 part Fennel Seeds

  • 1 part Elecampane

  • 1/8 part Orange Peel

  • Sweetener: Raw honey or maple syrup

Directions:

  • Prepare the Base: Combine all herbs except the wild cherry bark. Cover them completely with water and simmer gently until the liquid has reduced by half.

  • Cold Water Infusion: Turn off the heat and immediately add the wild cherry bark to the hot liquid. Allow the mixture to infuse for a minimum of 4 hours, up to 12 hours.

  • Strain and Cool: Strain the infusion, discarding or composting the spent herbs. Allow the liquid to cool completely.

  • Sweeten: Measure the amount of cooled liquid. Double this amount to determine the quantity of honey to use (e.g., 1/2 cup liquid requires 1 cup of honey). Adjust the amount of sweetener to your preference.

  • Flavor Enhancement (Optional): A splash of black cherry juice concentrate can be added for extra flavor.

  • Storage: Store the finished syrup in the refrigerator, where it will keep for several weeks.
