Burdock Root (Dried)
Burdock Root (Arctium lappa)
We harvest Burdock Root on our farm, an often-challenging process due to the root's tendency to grow deep into the soil. As far as Burdock is concerned, the harder the soil the better!! This deep growth allows the plant to pull up a wealth of nutrients.
Burdock is widely recognized for its detoxifying and anti-inflammatory properties. It is beneficial for a range of skin issues, including acne, eczema, and psoriasis, helping to clear the complexion and improve digestion.
It is an excellent blood purifier, supporting the body's normal cleansing pathways, particularly the liver and lymph systems. Burdock also promotes healthy kidney function and aids in expelling uric acid, making it helpful for conditions like gout and rheumatism.
The root supports steady digestion and appetite when the system feels sluggish, heavy, or stagnant.
Additionally, Burdock can assist the body in combating systemic infections. For persistent open wounds or to draw out splinters, lightly steam the fresh leaves and wrap the area in multiple layers, changing the poultice as needed. For best results, simultaneously drink Burdock Root tea. This traditional method was used by a friend to help soothe his daughter's Chicken Pox years ago.
